Downtime in Nevada

I had a few decent (as good as can be expected) fitness room workouts in SoCal. When I got to my hotel in Laughlin, NV, I discovered that they did not have a fitness center. After a bit of panic and some browsing, I found a fitness center in the adjoining town. Then I started to think about it and said - FUCK IT! I decided to do what people do when they are in Laughlin - have fun. We went to the river all day on Saturday. Our distributor has a new Centurion ski boat. We had a blast. We didn't do any skiing. We pulled into a cove and anchored by a bunch of other boats. I then preceded to drink enough beer to give the entire Pro Tour a hangover. I had a blast. We went back to the hotel to clean up and then grabbed a quick bite to eat. Then to the casino floor where I was able to eek out a meager $160 winning at Roulette. Better than loosing for sure.

This morning we drove up to Vegas and are staying at the Luxor. They want $25 to use the spa/fitness center here. Easy decision for me - FUCK NO. I will get back to training when I get home on Tuesday. It will be about 5 days since I did anything, but oh well. A little time off will be good for my brain I think.

I have been watching clips of the tour. It sounds like I have missed some real carnage. A lot of people are getting injured and the crashes are plenty.

Have a good week.

You have the rest of your life to ride and train and exercise; enjoy your time off.

With my temporary crown pain and planning for my sister's big party, I barely got any training in last week. But I think sometimes your circumstances work in tandem with your body and you get a rest that you needed without even knowing it.

I'm raring to take my still slightly sore jaw on the road again!

Nevada Hotel Casinos like to funnel you to the gaming area. Any activity that isn't making them money is discouraged. It's hard to find free internet for sure!

So, inquiring minds want to knowk - how much did you have to plunk down to win that $160?

I think you should write a letter to the place re: the exorbitant $25 fitness fee. UGH!!!

I've lived in Nevada all my life. I hear stories from people that win a thousand bucks, but they never tell you how much they've lost. Sometimes I'll see people win a couple hundred, but then put it back in thinking they're on a roll.

I seldom go to the casinos. Too smoky, and so/so food. If I do I play for low stakes. Nickel Poker. If you get the free beer while playing the low stakes games, you can usually break even!

Blue - I agree totally.

Oldman - I like your views

Mallie - I sure hope so. I will find out tonight when I climb back on the bike.

Jeff - I had to pay at least $12 for internet at every hotel in Nevada. I did manage free drinks while playing Roulette.

Eclectchick - The 160 was actually including my losses, so I left with 160 more than I started with. Not much, but it was fun.

Lauren - I would do that but my coach doesn't want me to do any cross training at this point. I am supposed to focus only on biking.

High end hotels like to stick it to you. Chateau Lake Louise (most rooms in the $600+/night range) wants $30/night for parking, $14.95/night for Internet, +++ . Total racket; the $69/night joint near us has free WiFI and parking, and still makes money.

As for finding Le Tour, cycling.tv or find a place near where your staying that shows it on the big screen.
