Sunday Ride in California
On Sunday I was fortunate enough to get to ride with some of the people whose blogs I read when I was out in N. Cali. The ride was a birthday ride for Velogirl. We met at a park in San Mateo for a 9am departure and logged a comfortable 37 miles at a casual pace. It was great to get to meet so many people in one day. Hopefully I can get out there to ride again soon.
CyclistRick who is still on crutches after his spectacular crash while attempting to jump the fountains at Caesars Palace on his commuter bike.
Lauren getting ready to roll. This is a COOL CHICK, folks.
One of the bike paths along the water. The area around San Mateo had bike paths everywhere. The people out there don't know how good they have it.
A regrouping stop. Holly, who is in the red kit in the foreground can throw down some serious speed.
Sarah, dispensing gourmet marshmallows.
Hans getting ready to cook me a Royale with Cheese.
The city of San Fransisco which was across the bay from the park.

sounds like some seriously good times! i'm amazed that you made it back in one piece! :)
it was a pretty fun ride.
every so often chris would come out of nowhere and throw down the hammer and just fly past all of us.
i tried keeping up the first few times but i didn't want to be too tuckered out to drink beer, so i let him go.
lauren....
not being too tired to drink beer is the most important part of a social race, er, i mean ride! :)
There's such a thing as being too tired to drink beer??
Whuh???
WOW, awsome!! ahahaha, Lauren, that is funny about not wanting to get too tired to drink beer, from the sounds of it, the suds were flowing!
Glad you had a great time Chris!!! Thanks for the pic's...
... and I would have made it if not for having to dodge the flying Elvis guys ;-)
Good to see you, and put down some brews together. Next time I will try to be ready to ride.
Looks like a real drag; no fun at all. Glad I couldn't make it out there to join you. Wow; I really dodged a bullet on that one! :^)
I'm with eclectchick; can anyone BE too tired to drink beer? I think not.
Chris did that "hammer down" thingy too when I was in Austin. I think I was too slow and it was embarrassing for him in front of all his local cycling friends! :^)
How cool. I wish I could just come over for some social beer drinking - ahem bike riding - too. Thanks for posting a pic of Cyclistrick and Lauren. Awesome to be able to put some faces to names as I love reading their blogs :-). Good seeing Cyclistrick recovering. And Lauren always cracks me up so if she is half as funny in real life I'm sure you had an awesome time. :-)
... and regarding the "Hammer Down" thingy: I didn't expect anything else from Mr Criterium Man! Hehehe
Note to self: Call Chris more appropriately "Hammer-Chris" from now on. :-)
What is this "driving to ride your bike"? No comprendo. But yeesh, such pretty roads.
Looks like a great time was had by all. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Blue - it is a miracle.
Lauren - I was just going along with Nick. He was controlling the pace :)
Eclectchick - it is definitely a ridiculous thought.
Lauren - I did have a great time!
Rick - you should think about Bionics.
Oldman - next time I go out there I will let you know. Maybe you can roll out with me. Seriously.
Groover - you should come over and do some riding in 2009. The people in California are great hosts.
Fendergal - that is how I roll.
Jahowie - indeed.
Now that our company opened up a branch in LA I might actually be able to do that! That would be awesome! And if we could coincide it with one of your trips that would be unbelievable.
Did you get Lauren's autograph? Wow! To meet a big star like that. Hopefully you didn't stutter and forget your name around her.
