Where Did The Weekend Go??

The thing I hate about weekends is that they are too short. Luckily I am on vacation today. We get a day off each year for our birthday. My birthday is Tuesday, but I am traveling for work on that day so I opted to take today off. Before you ask, I will be 74 years old.

I had two great rides this weekend despite the constant forecast of rain. Saturday I trained alone out in the Hill Country. I usually get a late start on Saturdays due to family stuff. It was about 95 degrees during my ride. There is a 6 mile climb up out of the Pedernales River on Saturday's return route. I was baking. I was daydreaming about cold cold water. It was weird. Almost a hallucination. I had eload with me, but that wasn't cutting it. I wanted cold cold water.

Sunday I went with the shop on a 50 mile loop ride into northwest Austin. It was good for some intensity at times because a few other racers like to mix it up. About 6 miles from the end I tried to shift the front and rear derailers at the same time on a climb and my chain flew off and got all jammed up. After I got it loose I had some serious auto-shift action going on. I let the group go and rode home at a cool down pace going CLICK POP BANG BOOM. I have to look at it today.

My rear derailer hanger showed up from Fort today and it turned out to be the wrong one. Figures.

Here is #3 on the list of "Top 10 Cheesiest Songs of All Time That You Probably Like But Won't Admit It." The cheese is getting piled on heavy now. Here are Dionne Warwick and Friends with That's What Friends Are For.

90's? That sounds like here except with no humidity and a storm chasing your ass!
Wimp.
Happy B-day Guy! You are officially older than me now. Really look young for your age, though . . . .
Friends don't let Friend's listen to stupid cheesy songs. Just sayin.

You can run but you cannot hide. The age of anyone with a USCF license is public information, like it or not ;-) I will not say who I voted for in the presidential election the year you were born ... but I will say: Happy Birthday!!!!

Sounds like some good riding this weekend, despite your rain.

First time I'm hearing that song, I actually like Stevie Wonder and will say this... that song seems cheesy, I do like it, and I will admit it!

btw, not sure if you saw my response to your response on my recent post, but my friend Kim is on that Metro VW team you talk about that is based out of Texas. I believe they have a pro team and a club team.

Happy Birthday, Chris. You look not one day past 65 - hehehe!

Funny that you are asking "cold" now. Didn't you just had enough cold the past six months? I'm happy to send you some. Bring back summer for me any time.

Sounds like you had a nice weekend of riding.

Lauren - how can Stevie Wonder make you feel uncomfortable? He is a musical genius.

Oldman - Are you going to be able to score some Blueberry Ale for September? I still plan on rolling your way.

Rick - DAMN THAT PUBLIC INFORMATION!

Zach - that makes sense. I thought the chances of their being two Metro VW teams was slim.

Groover - let's meet in the middle. I will give you some heat and you give me some cold and we will both be happy!

happy birthday, buddy!

that's the last song they played in the bars at night and everyone was all liquored up and teary eyed and all that crap. picture your head laying on the table because you don't have the strength to lift it up and you're looking at your buddies through the bottom of a beer glass.... you've got that rumbly in your tumbly feeling and you know you have to find your wayyyyyyyy home.... it's awful. "and that's all i have to say about that"

Happy Birthday! Seeing Dionne reminded me to call the Psychic Friends Network to find out your true age. Cool... I'll be turning 40 too.

I'll have a look into that eload stuff. Sound interesting. Our summers get pretty hot out here. One ride in January this year it hit 46C (115F) and that was quite on the warmer side of things and the rest of the ride averaged 36C (97F).

Bugger about your chain, I'll have to watch out for that as I always seem to do it at the same time.

Chris:
The Blueberry Ale supply will meet the demand. I can even have some of those Breckenridge Vanilla's if you want them too!
Glad to hear your coming up again for the Classic. Should be fun.

We hit 100 last Sunday. Brutal!

Happy belated B-Day to you. We Geminis have to stick together, especially since we're getting old as dirt!

Sorry, I can honestly say that I don't even secretly like that song. Blarghhhh.

Blue - I see this stirred up deep memories for you.

Lily - that would have been a wierd wedding song. I would have put my foot down too.

Donald - I wonder if Dionne is still hanging with the freaks. I haven't seen or heard of her in years.

Whitey - I think eload works as well as any of them but it has a light taste and is not sticky as hell like some of them.

Oldman - The Blueberry will be enough if you can scrounge some of that up.

Jahowie - thanks.

Fendergal - people always say I look older than I am. It must be the thinning hair and grumpy attitude.

Mallie - when is your bday?
