Primavera II
I raced on Sunday in the Primavera II held in Lago Vista, TX. In my opinion, this is probably the hardest race of the year. Last year, this was my worst race performance of the year - my only DNF.
At 37 degrees, it was cold for Texas at the start of the race. The field was fairly small at 48 riders. The race has a gradual climb that is about 2 miles long, and then a roller coaster descent back to the start/finish. The race was 40 miles which was 9 laps.
The race started off at a moderate pace. On the second lap, I went to the front to put in an effort in hopes of stringing the field out and dropping some deadwood. It sort of worked, but there were still plenty of racers coming up behind me. On the 4th lap, two racers attacked and I went with them. We worked well together and stayed away for about a lap until a 10 racer chase bridged up. We stayed together for another three or so laps and then the same two racers attacked again. I didn't go with them this time and it was a mistake because it was the winning break. Oh well. I sprinted hard for 3rd, but ended up in 4th. Not the wanted result, but it will have to do. Crit season starts soon! WOOOOHOOOO
Our break. I am in the blue and white. You can see the chase in the background.
The transition between the climb and the descent.
Quote of the Day
Suppose Nancy sees me coming out of the shower and decides to come on to me. I'm looking good, got a luscious v of hair going through my chest pubes down to my ball fro. She takes one look at me and goes " Oh my god, I've had the old bull now I want the young calf" and grabs me by the weiner. -Dale Doback-

That sounds like a great finish, Chris. It's so hard to tell if a break is going to stick. I HATE missing the one that goes.
good luck for the future crits fella and keep us informed!
nice job, buddy! woohoo!
Looking good fella. Fourth is no slouch this time of the season. Glad your staying up right too! :^)
Way to go... 4th isn't shabby and it's sounds like you're in pretty good form for Crit season. Keep it up!
Sydney - it seems to be the story of my life lately.
Fat Lad - thanks. You staying warm over there?
Blue - when you coming to Texas?
Oldman - upright 75% of the time this year so far. Not bad for me.
Donald - thanks. I look forward to the crits.
It is great when you can power at the front and then still manage to get on a break or counter attack that comes past...shows both smart racing and good fitness...
