Story Time
I just finished this book:
Science Fiction and what I call High Fantasy are my favorite genres. Most of my favorite books fall under these two areas. Eragon had all of the elements that make these stories great - dragons, elves, dwarfs, etc. Following the adventures of the characters is a great way to escape the daily grind. If you haven't read this book and are into this genre, I recommend it.

A literature note: If you like that genre, I would like to suggest "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman. He has some others out that are not as "sci fi/fantasy", but this is his best.
Give it a look.
Oldman - thanks for the recommendation. I will get a copy soon. I need to go to the bookstore and restock. My "to read pile" is depleted.
Sorry, but the Pullman "His Dark Materials" books piss all over "Eragon." My sister and I also watched "Pan's Labyrinth" this evening; a great fantasy movie that is *not* for the kids. Very dark, very violent, very beautiful. I highly recommend it.
Thanks Fendergal. I will check out the Pullman book.
Have you ever read any of the George R.R. Martin books in the Fire and Ice collection?
I got my honey some Naomi Novik books and he seems to be enjoying them. Its not usually my genre, but the way he is tearing into them, I might have to check them out.
