Plyomyohmy

I am full swing into training now and feel great. I gained about 6 pounds in the off season which is bad, but could have been worse. The plan right now is cycling and running for base building as well as weights and plyometrics for strength. I am not sold on the plyo just yet. I think more because I feel discombobulated while I am doing the jumps. They look easy in pictures and on video, but seem hard to do. I don't ever want to see what I look like doing them. This year will be a year without a coach for me. We are buckling down to save money like everyone else and I decided to give it a go on my own this year. I really liked my coach and felt that my results were improving steadily. Hopefully I will be able to keep things going on my own this year.

Dinner time at my house has turned into a zoo. Angelo basically plays with his food and doesn't eat anything and Tony screams and tries to feed the dogs constantly. Every night food, sippy cups, forks, and spoons hit the floor. Every night I am cleaning up food schmeg from high chair and booster seat crevasses. I have to instill some Chris Discipline, aka Chriscipline, before things get totally out of hand.

Book Review:

I heard people raving about the Johan Bruyneel book "We Might As Well Win", so I figured I better give it a read. I have to be honest, I wasn't impressed at all. While I am impressed with the success that JB has had both as a DS and a cyclist, I felt the book was totally written to fit the outcome. In other words, the story was written completely on hindsight in my opinion. Grade: C-

Here is something that I will give a fantastic review to - Shiner Holiday Cheer. Their description: "an Old World Dunkelweizen brewed with Texas peaches and roasted pecans. The malty flavors of this dark wheat ale are enhanced through the use of malted barley and wheat. And Kräusening ensures a smoothness that makes the subtle peach and pecan flavors all the more satisfying." Fuckin' eh. One after work, one after that, one for dinner, one after that, and two before bed will do you good.

November 9

Yesterday I did the Wurst Ride with some friends. The ride is a one way ride from Austin to New Braunfels where the Wurstfest is going on. I knew a few of the guys in the group wanted to go fast, so I figured I would probably fall off the back since I did not want to go fast at this point. As expected, the pace was hard and I decided that after 10 or so miles that I was going to slow down. I was riding the Retro Rocket which was a nice change. I ended up with 65 miles in total. The wind was blowing hard at times and there was a flat straight 5 mile stretch into the wind that was absolutely brutal. It was a good ride all things said. Plus, we got to drink some beer and eat some sausages at Wurstfest after the ride.

The group after the ride.

Check out this moron.
